Warren's Drug Store, as it is know today started in 1933 on the West end of Clay St in Mebane,NC and was known as "Pickard Drug and Seed Store". It was owned by Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Warren. As business developed and the town of Mebane prospered during this era with the strong success of White Furniture Company and Kingsdown Mattress Company, Pickard Drug and Seed Store prospered as well and the business
changed its name to "Warren's Drug Store". In 1938, Mr. Warren hired another pharmacist, Calvin Oakley who eventually would take over the business from the elder Mr. Warren and would subsequently move the pharmacy west to 100 E. Clay St. in the very early '60's. Soon after this move, another new pharmacist face appeared at Warren's Drug Store.
Doug Isaac came to Mebane after pharmacy school in Chapel Hill and cut his teeth in the pharmacy profession. Doug and Calvin ran the store very successfully for approximately the next 20 years until at which time Mr. Oakley retired in 1983 leaving Mr. Isaac the sole owner.
Immediately after, Ken Capes became co-owner of Warren's Drug Store with Isaac and managed the business with Isaac for a number of years, eventually hiring staff pharmacist Wheeler Carver, Jr in 1996. Mr. Isaac retired in 1999. Capes and Carver were the pharmacists that brought Warren's Drug Store more prominently into the 20th century with the addition of computerized record keeping and further drove this successful business toward the turn of the millinieum. In 2004, Mr.
Capes unexpectedly passed away leaving Mr. Carver as the lone pharmacist to manage this strong business. In 2005, Stephen Joyce and David Smith purchased the business from the late Mr. Capes wife and moved the business to 614 N. First St. in Mebane in a free standing building. The new building boasted of substantially more parking, a convenient drive-thru window, a compounding laboratory. Warren's Drug Store has been in the community since 1933 and still proudly serving the citizens of Mebane and the surrounding communities with the best service and highest level of customer satisfaction. It is a place of pride and dignity where the employees are there to help and serve their patients. Warren's Drug Store strives to be a unique pharmacy that really cares about each patient that we serve. Our motto has become "Experience Independent Pharmacy Care at Its Best".
